This summer, twenty five rising 11th, rising 12th, and recently graduated high school students from four DC public and public charter schools participated in a six-week program where they completed courses in Reading, Math, and College Ready skills. In these courses, which were led by Community College faculty, students learned and practiced effective public speaking skills, developed financial goals, managed a money plan, and developed their own vision and mission statements. Alongside this coursework, students explored cultural and historical sites in the District, participated in a college planning workshop, and developed a career plan. Each career plan was then mapped to a related college major and degree attainment plan.
Many thanks to our Summer Bridge students, instructors, staff, and presenters for helping to build an even more robust college-going culture among high school students in the District of Columbia!
